Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are launching a new VoWiFi feature on their network in India. This helps users in the Wi-Fi-based calling facility, who have less network reception in their homes. Airtel and Jio aim to improve the user experience and the service is free. You should know about VoWiFi as a Jio or Airtel customer about this.
What is VoWiFi?
Voice over Wi-Fi is basically a Wi-Fi connection for users to make or receive regular calls. Leads IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs based network with an Internet connection to make Voice over IP (VoIP) calls.
Where is Wi-Fi Calling Supported?
Bharti Airtel announced Wi-Fi calling support on its network in the first week of December and Reliance Jio has announced that the rollout process will be completed by January 16 and users across the nation can take advantage of the new feature in their smartphones. While Jio is supporting for all cities, Airtel’s VoWi-Fi feature is currently limited to a few cities.
Which devices are supported?
Airtel currently supports about a dozen smartphones from brands such as OnePlus, Samsung and Apple. On the other hand, Reliance Jio has a list of 150 devices under its support list. The list of devices supported by Reliance Jio includes the following:

Apart from these, there are phones from brands like Infinix, Lava, Coolpad, and others on the list.
If your device is already on the list, but you don’t see the feature on your phone, then you should look for any system updates available in the phone’s settings.
How to use wifi calling?
Now, Jio and Airtel support Wi-Fi calling overall broadband connections. To start using the feature, just enable it on your Android or iOS smartphone. Once enabled, it will automatically use Wi-Fi to make or receive calls when necessary.
How to do VoWiFi settings?
For settings in Apple smartphones, you have to follow these steps
- Go to “Settings”
- Select the “Phone” option.
- Enable VoWiFi calling.
For settings in Android smartphones, you have to follow these steps
- Go to “Settings”.
- Click on “Connection”.
- Enable WiFi calling option.
- On other Android phones go to the “sim management” option.
- Select “Sim Card 1” or “2” (As per you Jio or Airtel operator).
- Enable VoWiFi calling option.
